aikido. not just for orientals anymore.
The Art of Peace
Recently I've been reading away at the writings of Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of Aikido. I've had it for a bit, but just lately I've really started to put myself into it. I'm not sure if it's some sort of odd spiritual quest I haven't yet admitted to myself.. or if it's simply one of those delicious wants for knowledge. Basically, his writings were complied, and probably never originally meant to be together in such a fashion, but such is how things go. They speak of a deep and inner wisdom, and a definite peace. I admittedly haven't done a whole lot of studying for it.. but it does seem as if it's separated into categories since there does tend to be a running theme now and then.
To me, that speaks of an almost perfect sense of spiritual awareness. Not only that a deep and intense look past materialistic objects and into value - not price. It goes so much further and deeper than anything I've really read before.. on a much more spiritual and intraspective path than religions seem to take.
Again, an amazing and also interesting take on the intraspective nature of judgement. The idea that judging and throwing the first stone is a negative action is quite appealing to me. I have no problem with religions or the people that follow them right up until they're in my face about loving Jesus. I understand why they choose to do that.. but it's the old "fool me once shame on you" with "but fool me twice and shame on me!" I think around time eight or nine (fool me an eighty sixth time..), the amount goes up exponentially.
More Ueshiba to come.

The Art of Peace is medicine for a sick world. There is evil and disorder in the world because people have forgotten that all things emanate from one source. Return to that source and leave behind all self-centered thoughts, petty desires, and anger. Those who are possessed by nothing possess everything.

Twenty One
As soon as you concern yourself with the "good" and "bad" of your fellows, you create an opening in your heart for maliciousness to enter. Testing, competing with, and criticizing others weaken and defeat you.
